ICH, DIE MAULTASCH!

Synopsis

Margaret, Duchess of Tyrol, is a unique figure in the medieval chess match for supremacy in Europe. She asserts her throne against all intrigues - not always with squeamish means: against her malicious first husband, her warlike neighbors, even against the Pope. And not even the plague and plagues of locusts can discourage her. She paves the way for her beloved country into a new era. The private price for her strength is high: slandered as ugly and dissolute, defamed as the Maultasch, as a whore, Margarete loses her beloved second husband, all her children and remains lonely at the end of her life in a self-imposed exile in Vienna, leaving her dead heart buried in the Poor Clares convent in Merano.
